This show recreates the sound and vibe of a Carole King 1970's concert experience following her legendary album, Tapestry. You will be transported back to the iconic sound of that Grammy-winning 1971 album that has sold more than 25 million copies.
Suzanne O Davis pays impeccable attention to detail in recreating a respectful and accurate musical presentation of piano and vocals, just as they were.
Tapestry, the Carole King Songbook, not only presents the record-breaking, Grammy winning album of the same name, but is a retrospective of the iconic song writing team of Goffin and King, and her hits that continued into the 70's. This prolific team wrote chart-topping hits for artists such as Aretha Franklin, Bobby Vee, The Beatles, James Taylor, the Drifters, Donny Osmond ... and the list goes on.
It just doesn't get any more real than this.
You will feel the Earth Move under your feet with this show.
Born in Cleveland (the home of Rock 'n Roll) Suzanne was enrolled at age 5 in a children's music program at the Cleveland Institute of Music. It has been the driving force in her life, whether behind the piano, playing flute, or out front singing. In addition to having a vibrant piano teaching studio in Ontario, Canada, her versatility keeps her in demand as a live performer, and her career's journey has taken her across the globe from the Middle East to Mexico. Suzanne has performed with many different shows; in theatres, casinos, and tribute acts, sharing stages with artists such as Gary Puckett, KC and the Sunshine Band, America, The Village People...but has really hit her stride, and delivers a contagious and unbridled energetic performance with North America's Premier tribute: Tapestry, The Carole King Songbook. She loves sharing the timeless music of this artist, and it shows every night on stage.
About 17 miles north of Boston, award-winning 9 Wallis is a gorgeous, fully restored, historic location conveniently situated in the heart of Downtown Beverly's Arts District at 9 Wallis Street, right next to the Larcom Theatre -- less than half a mile from the Beverly Depot rail station and 3 miles from Route 128, with plenty of nearby parking (see map).
In April 2017, after 4 years of presenting over a hundred shows at Beverly's Larcom Theatre (featuring Grammy-winners, Rock & Roll Hall of Famers and platinum recording artist), gimmeLIVE's owners Peter and Vickie Van Ness, transformed 9 Wallis into the most intimate, elegant listening room north of Boston with comfortable seating at tables, plus food & beverage service offering fine wines, local craft beers, specialty cocktails (featuring local distilleries and all-natural juices) and top-shelf spirits.
In August 2018, Peter and Vickie were presented with the Boston Blues Society's Keeping the Blues Alive Award for their work at 9 Wallis.
Because of its beautifully restored, tremendously flexible space with the best dance floor on Boston's North Shore, 9 Wallis has become a favorite venue for fundraisers, private parties and corporate events. Local charities have raised thousands of dollars at 9 Wallis (see examples). With world-class entertainment, an event can begin as a cocktail party or fully seated dinner...then transform into a nightclub-style dance party with concert quality sound and stage lighting.
